There are so many magazines out there that give you financial advice. I have found that some of the best and more practical ones might just be in a Woman’s Day or Parents magazine and not necessarily Forbes or Money Magazine.
In the November issue of Woman’s Day, an article lists the top 21 websites to save you money and time. We’re all looking for advice on saving money and finding bargains. And magazines for women seem to be on top of things.
Shop Local: Wow. I never knew this site existed. You’re always hearing the term “shop local” in advertisements to help boost the local economy. Type in your city and find listings of deals by store or types of merchandise and find weekly ads as well.
Mommy Savers: “Moms Living Well for Less” is the tag line and moms can find coupons, bargains and tips for saving money. There’s an up-to-date blog with current information. Take a look at the right side of your screen and find fun activities for kids, parenting resources and recipes.
Bargainist: You don’t have to go searching around for deals. This site offers current hand-picked deals, sales and coupons for clothing stores, restaurants and other places in one spot. Printable coupons, tips on saving money, freebies can also be found.
Coupon Clippers: They claim to be the largest online grocery coupon clipping service. Search aisle by aisle for coupons on beverages, baked goods, dairy, laundry and many more. I clicked on beverages and found deals on coffee, juice, soda, tea, water and others.
Free Cycle: is a grassroots, non-profit of people who are giving and getting free stuff in their towns and therefore helping to keep stuff out of landfills. Millions are using the site and you find groups by clicking on your state. You must join the local group (which is free) to view items being given away.
Paperback Swap: How do you swap books? Become a member (right now it’s free), post the books you would like to exchange, browse the lists and order the book you want. The books you get are free and you can keep them. When someone would like one of your books, an email comes to your inbox, accept and mail it. Log onto the site for more direct instructions.
Zilok: Strange name, but cool site to help you rent or offer to rent items online. If you need an item just for the weekend, log on and type in your location. You might just find the item you’re looking for. Zilok is also available overseas.
USA: Browse websites for items, such as cars, games, movies and fashion, click on the ads and the profits are given to charities.
Find How: What exactly do you find out about? You find out how to fix or build things yourself to save money by not having to hire a professional.
Consumerist: Read top consumer issues of the day on this site. It can tell you about the latest scams, rip-offs, hot deals and freebies.
There’s more to come on my next posting.
