Captain D’s: You have to dine in, but on Thursdays you can take advantage of a great deal. Get two free kid’s meals with the purchase of an adult meal.

Chevys: Tuesdays is the day for this deal. Buy an adult entree and get the kid’s meal for free.

Denny’s: Up to two kids 10 and under can get free meals with each adult purchase of $2.50 or more. It’s from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on certain nights.

Dickey’s BBQ Pit: Head to Dickey’s after church and your child can eat for free when you purchase a meal.

Lone Star Steak House: Head here on Tuesdays and up to two kids can eat free with an adult entree purchase.

Luby’s: On weekday evenings, kids can eat for free with the purchase of an adult meal. Check their website to see when they offer it.

OODC: How did you get started blogging and tweeting?
@FrugalFreebies: Originally I was running Born to Love, a natural baby product company that I created way back in 1982. I taught myself HTML back in 1998, and created the website too. But I was ready to move on now that my children were grown up, and looking around for something else to do.

I originally started blogging about the over 44 year old pregnancy stories I had been collecting, and branched out from there.

I first discovered freebies & coupons as a young mum, and now that I have the entire internet to search – my husband is amazed at how much free stuff I have got & how much we have saved! I started searching for free samples to help us cut costs, and before you know it, it had become a blog! I had found so many free samples, I just had to share them with all of my friends and readers.

OODC: Why are you so passionate about scoring freebies?
@FrugalFreebies: Well, first of all it’s fun! And it’s free! It helps with the family budget, we get to try things we might not have bought, and I like the challenge of finding great freebies to share with my readers. I always get excited when I find a really great freebie to share!

And the coupons have been really exciting – my best shopping trip was a total value over $200, with an out-of-pocket cost of $17 after coupons!

In the recent past we went to the movies for free, ate at A&W and Harvey’s for free and my husband got his morning coffee for free at McDonald’s. We’ve gotten 6 cases of Pepsi for free, 15 bottles of Ocean Spray Cranberry Cocktail Juice for free, and have saved over $1,000 in coupons! Last Canada Day, we all ate for free at the Mandarin All-You-Can-Eat Buffet.

Did I mention that it is fun – and free!

OODC: It must be fun to see what shows up in your mailbox every day– what free stuff showed up this week?
@FrugalFreebies: It’s actually been a slow week but I have gotten a coupon for a free loaf of Silver Hills bread, a sample of Hugo fragrance, a 15 pack of React5 gum and 3D glasses, a package of Kashi GoLean Crisp!, a package of Purina Beneful Incredibites dog food, a coupon for free Halo dog treats.

But my best freebie this week was the dog car seat harness and dog carrier I got from Amazon (value $105) for free with the SwagBucks I had collected!

OODC: What do you hope people gain from reading your blog?
@FrugalFreebies: A mailbox overflowing with freebies, of course! My readers tell me I help them save a great deal of money too!

It can be a lot of time and work to dig through all the offers out there. I read tons of freebie offers every day – trying to find the ones that are legit, still active and actually arrive. I try to save my readers some of the time and legwork of freebie hunting, and provide them with interesting freebies to request.

My motto is – so many freebies, so little time!

* Toothpaste- Almost weekly the drug stores have a deal that will get you free toothpaste. Just keep an eye out in your Walgreens, Rite Aid or CVS circulars.

* Shampoo- I picked up two bottles of John Freida shampoo for a total of $.99 last week at Target. This would normally cost over $10. I used to buy pricey shampoo, but honestly I couldn’t tell the difference. In the past I have scored multiple bottles of free organic shampoo by using coupons, sales and mail in rebates.

* Body Wash- My husband is well stocked up on body wash. By keeping an eye on drug store sales and using valuable coupons I’ve been able to pick up several brands for free.

* Deodorant- This is another product I rarely pay for anymore. Both my husband and I have small stockpiles of deodorant.

* Yogurt- I used to think I was getting a great deal if I bought a four-pack of yogurt for $1. Now I either get it for free or I pay about $.25 for a four-pack. I combine “buy one get one free” sales with coupons.

* Snack Foods- I’ve scored free granola bars, trail mix and crackers. In the last couple of weeks I’ve picked up bags of chips for a quarter and dip completely free. Since this is the season for backyard BBQs and gatherings with friends I usually like to keep a small stash of stuff like this so I can bring something easy to share at the party.

* Cereal- I remember before I started couponing I would complain about the high price of cereal. I couldn’t understand why a box cost $4 or more. Now I rarely pay over a dollar for a box. A couple of weeks ago I bought five boxes of Fiber One cereal for about $.74 each. I no longer have to buy generic. In fact, I get name brand cereal for much cheaper than the store brand products.

* Coffee Creamer- Just yesterday I picked up four bottles of coffee creamer for about 19 cents each. Our fridge is usually stocked with several different flavors that I was able to pick up at a deep discount.

* Frozen Vegetables- For some reason deals on frozen vegetables are plentiful. Typically I combine a coupon with a half-off sale to get a bag of them for about a dime. It’s great for a quick side dish at dinner.

* Cleaning Supplies- I donate a lot of my extra purchases to local shelters and a lot of what I end up donating are cleaning supplies. I’m able to pick up glass cleaner, shower cleaner and laundry products for pennies. I also have a nice stockpile of back up cleaning supplies so that we never have to run to the store and pay full price at the last minute.
