I know, I know, it’s still July and summer is in full force. But soon, the first day of school will start to sneak up. Whether you’ve looked at your child’s back-to-school supply list yet or not, chances are it’s pretty lengthy. And fulfilling the teacher’s requests could be a little pricey– especially if you wait until the last minute. Here are some tips for getting incredible deals on back-to-school supplies.
1. Don’t wait. Deals are already happening. You can score glue for a penny. Folders for a nickel. And packs of pens are free if you know how to work it. Just make sure you start gathering supplies now, rather than waiting until the day before school starts.
2. Buy extra. Chances are your child will need to replenish their stock of notebooks, pens or erasers before the end of the school year. So why not buy more now when they’re super cheap? If you don’t want to hold on to the extras, donate them to a worthy cause. Lots of kids can’t afford shiny new school supplies.
3. Shop at different stores. While glue at one store may be a penny, it could cost you a buck at another. Investigate the sales at the stores you shop at regularly and only pick up the best deals at each store. Since you’re starting early, you won’t mind having to buy supplies at different stores.
4. Print off coupons. You can save lots of money when you combine a good sale with coupons. Search for printable coupons from brands like Bic and Papermate. Also, check out the printable store coupons offered by retailers like Target. Just think– now you’ll have more money to spend on the back-to-school wardrobe.
