Chances are you’ve been really focused on others over the past few weeks. But what about giving yourself a Christmas gift? It may seem like a foreign idea, but give it a try– you deserve it!
A Gym Membership
Perhaps your gym membership was one of the items hacked from your budget in 2009. If so, consider what the bible says in 1 Corinthians.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. (1 Corinthians 19-20)
Your body is a temple– treat it that way! If you can’t swing a gym membership buy some workout DVDs. You need your body to be able to serve God, so take care of it.
A Christian Finance Book
There are several great Christian finance books. Give yourself one this Christmas and make a plan to become debt free. The Lord does not want us to live owing money to others. Here is one verse that shows that:
The wicked borrows and does not pay back, but the righteous is gracious and gives. (Psalm 37:21)
Be a better giver by getting out of debt. Give yourself the gift of freedom and find inspiration in a great Christian finance book.
Prayer Journal
Give yourself a new prayer journal and set aside time with the Lord to write in it. As Christians, prayer is powerfully important. Give yourself the gift of prayer and understand the peace of God.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
There are many different types of prayer journals. Find one that speaks to you and commit to using it regularly.
Time With Your Family
Your family is a gift from God. Treat it that way by setting aside some of the busyness of life and devoting extra time to your family.
Sons are a heritage from the LORD children a reward from him. (Psalm 127: 3)
Treat your children like the reward that they are and plan a special outing or trip just for your family.
