Ever since I wrote this post about some crazy stuff I do to save money I’ve been thinking of more crazy things that I didn’t include in that list. No, I’ve never sold my plasma or stolen flowers off a grave like this post suggests, but I have done some other wacky stuff.
I Dry Herbs
When a recipe calls for herbs and I can’t use them all, rather than letting the Oregano or Parsley go bad, I hang them in my pantry so I can use them in other recipes.
I Cut Open Bottles
My dad once drew my attention to the fact that many packages are poorly designed. They don’t allow you to use all of the product. So I started cutting open bottles and he’s right! Even when you think the face wash is gone or the lotion bottle is empty– it’s not! Cut them open and you’ll see what I mean.
I Carry About 12 Punch Cards in My Wallet
If a coffee shop, restaurant or movie theater has some sort of rewards card, I probably have it in my wallet. Right now I’ve got a card that will give me a free coffee at Panera and last week I got a free movie ticket for compiling enough points in the Regal Crown Club. Oh and if I’m with someone who doesn’t have a card, I ask them to use mine on their purchase.
I Ask for Extra Sauce
Do I really need 10 packets of sauce for my taco? Probably not. But I may need it in the future!
I Request Samples
I’m constantly filling out offers for free samples. Just yesterday I requested a free sample of Starbucks new instant coffee.
I Carry Hundreds of Coupons with Me at All Times
Good thing I have a big purse. I bring along a filing system with all of my coupons wherever I go. You never know when you might need them!
