Chances are the fewer syllables your order at Starbucks has, the cheaper it will be. With the recession in mind, Starbucks unveiled a new pricing strategy. They’re lowering the prices of their less complicated drinks, like drip coffees and tall lattes. If those are your drinks of choice you’ll pay 5 to 15 cents less than before. But for those of you addicted to mocha Frappuccinos will have to fork over more– as much as 30% more for a delicious beverage, according to US News and World Report.
There are other ways to save at Starbucks. If you use a Starbucks card for your purchases you can enjoy a bunch of perks. This is not a credit card– it’s like a store gift card that is reloaded. If you pay with that you’ll get free selected syrup and soy milk, free brewed coffee refills, free beverage when you purchase a pound of coffee and free wi-fi for up to two hours a day.
Some say Starbucks new pricing strategy won’t work because those people already buying the more expensive drinks will end up switching to cheaper one to avoid paying more. And those buying the cheaper drinks will just continue to buy them at the lower price. I switched to cheaper drinks a long time ago, moving from grande sugar-free vanilla lattes to ice coffees. It saves me about $2 and I still get to enjoy a great coffee. Although once the pumpkin spice latte returns I may be spending a bit more at Starbucks.
