Survive Without a Salary

Society says that a man must go to a ‘real’ job in order to earn a paycheck to provide for his family. Society is wrong. There are many ways to live life without conforming to the ways of the world.

1. Set a budget. If you are going to live life outside of the normal realm then you need to be even more aware of what you need and when you need it. If you can’t follow a budget then stick to the 9 to 5.

2. Have a savings plan. It is important to always be putting back for a day when you don’t have some kind of income coming in.

3. Make a list of all your gifts, talents, interests and hobbies. One of them may be the answer to your financial needs.

4. Do what you enjoy that others hate and will pay for someone to do. There are actually people who enjoy cleaning houses, mowing lawns or even cooking.

5. Use your time wisely. You may be able to do something for a season that will carry you through for the year (Christmas is a great time to find extra income).

6. Think outside of the box (or at least the cubicle). There are people who make a living creating fantasy costumes for Renaissance Faire participants. If they can do it, then your dream could be possible as well.

If you are interested in living a life not bound by traditional income methods, you have to willing to plan ahead and make temporary sacrifices. Even in this world of ‘have it now and have it my way’ it is possible to survive without a salary.
