Taxpayers Rally at More Than 2,000 TEA Parties

What better day to protest higher taxes and outrageous government spending than April 15– tax day. More than 2,000 TEA Party rallies were held cost-to-coast to send a message to Washington that voters are not happy with the way lawmakers are spending tax payer dollars.

I attended a TEA Party rally in Simpsonville, South Carolina. About 500 people gathered outside City Hall for an event organized by two local mothers who are fed up with politics. The mothers started talking about taxes and government spending during an event at their childrens’ elementary school and decided to organize a TEA Party.

In addition to listening to some speakers, organizers asked the crowd to call Washington. A big poster displayed direct numbers to the White House and to the Capitol where many in the crowd left messages for their representatives.

The crowd was made up of Veterans and children, mothers and fathers, and people from all types of backgrounds. The event was not sponsored by a political party or a group with an agenda. It was truly a grass roots way to send a message Washington. If you attended a tax day TEA Party tell us about it. To learn more about the TEA Party movement visit TEAPartyDay.com.
